The Crime Commission condemns in the strongest words possible the brutal actions of the five police officers who savagely beat Tyre Nichols to death. There is no excuse, no justification, no explanation for the inhumane cruelty that took Tyre Nichols' life.
We are a nation of laws. The law will rise, as it must, and afford these police officers their due process rights, rights they wholly denied Tyre Nichols. But let us be clear, nothing short of universal condemnation of these officers is required.
